AFRICANNA
The Africanna Project grew from the seeding that is everyday life living in Australia as someone of African Heritage
When you compare the pride that our parents, aunties etc. have compared to our current generation, you can see that our light is dim. We don’t wear our traditional dresses and style our hair how it once would have been, we do so in order to fit in to Western society.
Yet our skin, our features, our voices bear fruits to anything but African, so why not walk with a sense of pride when people stare?
Africanna at its core, is part of Kobla’s series of projects aimed at reminding us of our innate confidence, our beauty, our grace, history and our ancestral ties to our motherland, Africa.
‘Sunday Best Photo Series’ was only the beginning.
Africanna is a reminder to not only forget about who we are, especially as the entire world shifts it’s view on us as a people.
Our Time is Now.
